Curate your space
Nisk Art Friends Vice President Amanda Magnetta-Ottati, owner of Bear and Bird Boutique + Gallery on Jay Street, was recently interviewed on WMHT’s AHA! A House for Arts Showcase. This television series and digital collection features primarily creative artists, makers and institutions in the Capital Region. It showcases opportunities for art appreciation and education, offering teaching tips and learning objectives alongside the artist videos.
Amanda and host Jade Warrick discussed curating your space, supporting the arts, how to start collecting art, and more. Originally from Los Angeles, Warrick is a Capital Region-based visual designer who focuses on bringing art and wellness programming into Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) and marginalized communities.
“Price is not the entry point to show yourself on your walls. All my friends have art in their homes … or do they have art in their homes because they’re my friends? Artists bring joy to our lives.” — says Amanda, who applies her creative passion to create her curated curiosity shop and gallery specializing in vintage and contemporary illustrative arts of all kinds.
