About Us

Our Vision

At Nisk Art Friends, our vision is to inspire Niskayuna K-12 students to connect and create art through exceptional opportunities and experiences. Together, our members and sponsors can make a meaningful difference in the lives of Niskayuna students and our community's artistic landscape.

Our Mission

  • Promote excellence in The Arts: Encourage students to participate in regional and national art competitions.
  • Invest in future artists: Provide student scholarships to those who have demonstrated outstanding dedication to the Arts.
  • Encourage creativity: Enable students to explore diverse genres and perspectives through access to local artists, guest speakers and museums.
  • Connect across communities: Organize events that foster shared artistic appreciation and belonging, while meaningfully impacting our community.

Our History

Founded in 2023, Nisk Art Friends is growing from a small group of parents and guardians who shared a passion for bringing the Arts to our children, families and community to a thriving organization that offers a range of programs, events, and exhibitions.

Nisk Art Friends has a five-year plan of priority programs and events to increase its memberships, donations, scholarships and initiatives -- strategically and intentionally. All funds received this year will be allocated towards our priority initiatives such as annual Niska Day participation, annual art scholarships, a new community mural, an annual school calendar and much, much more.

Like a brand new canvas, Nisk Art Friends is full of potential and ready to make colorful brush strokes.

Commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion

Nisk Art Friends programming strives to provide more equitable access to diverse artists, mentors, training and resources because when diversity and equity intersect, we create true inclusion. A state where everyone feels comfortable being their authentic self.

We are committed to fostering cultural inclusivity and elevating diverse representation to help the distinct lived experiences, backgrounds and identities of our students feel reflected and celebrated. By spotlighting different perspectives, we want to promote the creation of art at every age as the powerful tool it is for self-expression, self-care and love.
